Photo 1

Yet again, no outfit pictures. I've been dressing really boring lately, and while I have taken a few pictures, they're really poor quality. I'm not sure I'll even post them.

In the meantime, I took a photography class last quarter and finally scanned some of my work. These were taken with a Minolta SR T-101 and printed in the darkroom at school. I scanned them with my scanner at home, which lost a lot of the subtle tones. Especially in the light tones, those have been completely washed out. So they look better in real life.

1st assignment - learning to use the camera and how to process and print

2nd assignment - street photography

3rd assignment - inspired by jerry uelsmann

4th assignment - portrait

random

final assignment - sustainability

I'm taking photo 2 this quarter and it's fantastic. I'm much more pleased with my work from this quarter so far. Although there was some stuff I liked last quarter.

the flood

Ok, so I know I've been pretty bad about posting lately. And I know I told you I had something crazy to write about. So I will, but it seems way less intense now. 'Cause you know, it was awhile ago.

We had some INSANE flooding a few weeks ago. Biggest flood since 1990, at the least. Eh, pictures show it best. My mom took some of these since I was shooting for my photography class.

Yeah. That was a LOT of pictures. It was pretty crazy and pretty awesome. I went snowshoeing today, I'll post some pictures from that later.

lazy blogger :(

I've been a bum of a blogger lately. It's been quite awhile since I last posted. And for that I am sorry. Also, I need to work on some homework (I got my due dates mixed up so I didn't have my math homework homework, and I also wasn't ready for the quiz today. Ugh, bad start to the year.) so this post will be less wordy than usual.

First, I have an outfit from school. Since the new quarter just started, I decided to dress up. Yes, I'm a dork.

shoes - shoe pavilion (I forget the brand), tights - target, coat - old navy, scarf - thrift store

dress - romy, sweater - uniqlo (thrifted)
My mom took these pictures are, so I apologize for the poor quality.

Next, I wore this for the midnight showing of Wet Hot American Summer (one of my favorite movies) at the Egyptian on Friday. Nothing special, and I didn't even get a full length shot. (It was late when I got home, what can I say?)

shirt - gramicci (thrifted), chinese bone necklace - vintage

Lastly, I have a picture left over from when we had all that snow. I made snowmen with Amanda, but the ball of snow got so huge I could barely roll it.

I couldn't get the rocks to stick in for his mouth so he looks a little wonky. Party pics with snowmen! Silly faces all around.

I have some craziness to talk about, but I'll have to save that for my next post. The schoolbooks are calling!

P-A-R-T-why? 'Cause we got to!

As I write this I am eating leftover thai food (yummy spicy green curry) but I just got home from a kinda sketchy party. Most of the people there started drinking around 4 this afternoon and you could tell. I got hit on by a Samoan with a girlfriend that called me "girl with glasses" and a really skeevy guy kept trying to dance with me and my friend. There was also a guy that seemed to be on the verge of getting violent and actually may have hit a girl in the other room. We didn't know any of these guys but that didn't stop them from repeatedly hugging us and not letting go. I did get to see two friends that I hardly ever see, but apart from them and the girl I went with, I knew no one. We left early.

I don't have outfit pictures from tonight because I look gross. No makeup except some smeared remnants of last night's eyeliner, glasses, tshirt, sweatshirt, jeans, sneakers, yucky hair. Boring and ugly.

Last night I went to a party in Seattle. A friend of mine just moved out of her dorm and into an apartment so she and her roommates threw a party. I went with a car full of friends from my town, including an awesome kid I haven't seen in probably six months. They're a really fun group of people and it was great to hang out with them all again. My friend's roommates are all really nice too and there were some cool people at the party. I ended up getting pretty drunk, but not trashed, so it was good. Near the end of the night there was a big fight about whether X-Men or Power Rangers were better, Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Iron Man or the Dark Knight. It was hilarious.

t-shirt and jeans - pacsun, sweatshirt - found/stolen american apparel, scarf - urban outfitters, earrings - christmas present, shoes - vans

Pacsun is really not my style, but I love their v-neck tees. A boy at the party last night was complimenting my friend and I on our v-necks (both from pacsun) but he was all about the American Apparel. While I love American Apparel, I love a good deal so much better and I can get a v-neck that fits exactly like I want it to (a little baggy and loose) from pacsun for $3.50. Including tax. I picked up like six more of these today, mainly in bright colors, but I got an extra white one and 2 black ones too.

I also went to the thrift store today and got a skirt and a dress. I hardly ever try stuff on at the thriftstore because their changing rooms are gross and it turns out the skirt is too big and the dress too small. The skirt fits at my hips but looks way better at my waist, so I think I'll take it in. It's wool, bias cut, and a little past my knees. It looks sort of seventies-ish to me. The dress I have less high hopes for. It's a khaki shirt dress that I thought would be nice for the summer, with a colorful silk scarf around my neck, but it's really tight, the buttons gape, and the band on the sleeve cuts into my upper arm. I am hoping to loose some weight (actually more just get toned) so I may be able to fit into it later on but I'm guessing this one won't work out. If it doesn't, I'll be looking for another khaki shirt dress, as I love the safari vibe it has.

pewter bird necklace - vintage, peacock earrings - christmas present (bought on etsy)

Bonus points if you get the reference in the title.

So much SNOW!

Seriously, I have about a two feet at my house right now. I went to pick up J from work yesterday and almost died on the way there. It took around 4 hours to get to her workplace and back when it usually takes maybe an hour and a half. So ridiculous. The snow really is beautiful, but it just makes it a pain to get anything done. And our power keeps going out. Anyways, I've been trying to have more fun with my clothes, partially since I'm so bored and stuck at home, and partially because I'm inspired by all the fashion blogs I've been reading lately. So yesterday I dressed up just to go pick up J. I'd gotten so bored wearing jeans and long johns that I just decided to layer the crap out of my legs and wear a skirt.

I'm wearing leggings from target, thigh high socks from sockdreams.com, thrifted boots, a skirt from urban outfitters, shirt from old navy, and a thrifted sweater.

My coat and gloves are from target and the scarf was made by a girl I went to high school with.

By the way, I absolutely hate my hair right now. It's too long; I haven't cut it in over two years and it's just completely blah. I hate wearing it down, but it's getting too long to wear up. I'm planning on getting it cut, but I don't have the money for that right now. Until then, I just don't know what to do with it.

This is how I've been dressing most days. Same coat, scarf, and gloves, with my worn out jeans and long johns. This was a few days ago, before the roads had turned to ice. They had been driven on just enough to pack it down perfectly for skiing so my mom and I strapped on the cross-country skis and had some fun.

Today I stayed at home all day. The power was out for quite awhile although it's back on now. I'm thinking of baking some cookies and watching a movie.I've been drinking tea and reading. I'm wearing the same sweater as yesterday (it's so so warm) and a really old shirt that I can't remember were I bought it, along with the same worn out old navy jeans and some really thick cable knit leggings that I think I bought at target. No shoes since I haven't gone out, but if I did, it'd have to be those same red boots.

I don't wear my glasses much these days, but I like how they look today. Besides, I'm too broke to keep buying contacts, glasses save me money.

Anyways, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep doing this, but it's kind of fun to play with my clothes and take pictures and stuff, so I might.

Edit: I did end up going out, J's power was out so I went to pick her up so she could hang out here until it came back on.

I wore this coat I got at Buffalo Exchange back in August (it was so cheap!) and the super soft scarf and gloves (I have a hat that matches too, but I don't look good in hats most of the time) I got for christmas last year. And the ever-present red boots. Can't wait until this snow melts off and I have other options for footwear.

Looking at it now, I think this coat would look better with a skirt. I have this fantastic olive wool high waisted pencil skirt I got at a thrift store a few years ago, I might try that. And actually, even after the snow melts off I won't have many more footwear choices. I really need to go shoe shopping.
