bright legs

shirt - gap, skirt - secondhand, cardigan - urban outfitters, tights - target, shoes - pf flyers, purse - thrifted coach

I got this cardigan over the weekend when I was shopping with Amanda. I love how long and slouchy it is. And these tights are always super fun to wear. The shirt is also new, and I like the faded color and relaxed fit. I really don't have much to say. I wore this outfit to work and then JAR made Snicker Dudes (snickerdoodle cookies + chopped up snickers) after I got off.

train tracks

tank - target, cardigan - thrifted, jeans - gap, shoes - beat to shit converse, bag - thrifted coach, scarf - vintage, sunglasses - stolen/found in oly

It's funny, this is pretty much how I always used to dress about three years ago. Kind of 50s/rockabilly inspired. Seriously, when I was 17, all I wore were jeans with wifebeaters and cardigans, and I always wore my hair up with a little pompadour and a bandana. There are a few slight changes though. I've switched the bandana for a silk scarf, tied on the side instead of in the back, and I wear red lipstick now. This time I also did a bit more of cat eye eyeliner instead the smokey eye I was obsessed with back then. And I never used to cuff my jeans (silly, they look much better with high tops when they're cuffed). Here, check out these pictures, all from 2007. So the same thing.

I guess I just think it's kind of weird to be revisiting something I did several years ago. Not bad really. I mean, I really did like this outfit. It's just that this used to be all I wore. Like every day I wore anything other than jeans and a tshirt with messy hair, it was wifebeater, cardigan, pomp, bandana, smokey eye. So glad I switch it up a bit now.

moon palace

Wait, what? A non-boring outfit? No way!

Yeah, I didn't have work today so I spent a little while getting dressed and then went down to the used bookstore (this bench is outside) to look for a book. The book is for a bookclub, but the bookclub only has two people. One of whom is a boy I like. The other is me. Yeah, it's cute. I didn't find the book, but the boy found his old copy of it (he had bought a new one) and said he'd mail it to me.

Anyways, after Justina and I hung out at the bookstore and then at the park for a bit, we decided to go thrifting since she hadn't been in awhile and we were both wanting some summer stuff. She found some cute dresses and skirts and I got a couple things too, including a really beat up denim jacket. Just for fun, we were looking in the furniture section and we found these amazing yellow sixties-ish chairs. Now, we both still live with our parents, but we've been talking about getting a place together this summer so we decided it was a sign that we should live together and each bought one. Stoked for our place. It's gonna look rad.

sunshine = happiness

shirt - gap, jeans - gap, purse - thrifted coach, shoes - thrifted

This is so not an exciting outfit but I found this sweet place to take photos behind my work. There's this trail along the slough and this burnt out old train trestle that just makes the best background for photos. Setting up the camera was interesting, there were no flat surfaces for me to set it on so I ended up hanging it off a splintery bit. The things I put my camera through.

car trouble

shirt - gap, jeans - gap, shoes - jeffrey campbell, purse - thrifted coach, watch - stepdad's dad's

Woah, this outfit is different from how I usually dress, and how I want to dress. That's not to say I don't like it, it's just not exactly . . . me, or the me I want to be. So while I like this outfit, I kind of consider it a failure. The combination of dressy top, skinny jeans, and heels is nice for a lot of girls, but it's too pulled together, too normal, and I guess a little too boring for me. I think I would love this blouse tucked into a highwaisted skirt though! And the jeans/heels combo definitely works for me.

I wore this last week (SO behind in blogging/haven't been wearing or doing anything interesting) when I went shopping in Seattle with Amanda. We had fun, went to a lot of vintage and thrift stores in the U District (that Valley of the Roses store I mentioned? totally bomb-ass amazing) but I got a fucking flat tire while I was driving Amanda back to her car. So lame. I'd never actually changed a tire before and I had to do it in HEELS. But we did it, without much trouble and without having to get help, so I'm crazy proud of us. And yeah, Amanda decided she need to take pictures of me jacking up the car wearing epic heels.

total shit (and cupcakes)

Wow, I am so behind in blogging. These pictures are from Saturday. Justina, Amanda, and I hung out in Seattle, got cupcakes at Trophy, and did some shopping. Then Justina came home with me (after seriously devouring some teriyaki) and we napped before heading BACK to Seattle to see our friends' band, Total Shit play. They were awesome, of course, but they played last out of like 8 bands at this stupid party and I was not drunk enough to deal with all the annoying college students. The rest of the bands were AWFUL and almost everyone left by the time my friends played.

tablesaw tableau

This outfit is nothing special but I actually really like this sweatshirt. It's like an old gray sweatshirt, but actually has some shape to it. And I really dig the neckline, how it's a little wider than usual. Whatever, I don't even know what I'm talking about. The day I wore this I met up with my dad for dinner in Seattle. Pam's Kitchen, once again. He had never been. I had the goat, which I hadn't tried before, and it was really good. When I got home, I decided to take copious pictures in the shop. I wish I could have rigged up more dramatic lighting. I think it would be an interesting place to take photos if I could get the background all shadowy.

(this picture is so goofy. it reminds me of a lame senior picture but I liked the stairs)

thriftscoring an easter dress

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. My celebrations were limited to omelets for breakfast and wearing a pretty dress. Since I am not religious and have grown out of Easter egg hunts and dying eggs with food coloring (or have I? I think next year that needs to come back), Easter is barely a holiday. I did have the day off work, which was nice, and went to dinner with J and L.

I've been thrifting like crazy lately. About once a week I go after work and have buy at least a few things. Value Village has been kicking ass when it comes to vintage dresses. This particular one is a rather awful polyester fabric and appears to be handmade. It may look like something a grandma less hip than my own would wear but I quite like it. I do think it needs to be shortened though. Just above the knee? I have a lot of dresses that need to be hemmed but I can't decide on how short. Several of them I think would look best quite short but then I wouldn't be able to wear them to work. And I need more clothes that I can wear at work. Quite a dilemma.

dress - thrifted, purse - thrifted coach, coat - old navy, tights - dkny from garage sale, shoes - jeffrey campbell

Ok, these shoes. Love them. I got them months ago but haven't actually gotten around to wearing them yet. I can't wear them at work and my life has pretty much been work or home these days so I had no reason to. Finally decided, fuck it, I like them and want to wear them. I don't need a reason. Besides, I liked how they're kind of intense and it contrasts with the pastel floral dress. They will definitely be worn lots more. They're even really comfortable!

And the bag, oh man was I stoked to find this. I swear, it was probably never used. Perfect condition basic black Coach bag. The shoulder strap will be great for the summer (for some reason I hate bags that need to be held during the summer) and it's a bit bigger than my brown one which means I don't have to desperately cram all my essentials into a far too small to hold them bag. So yeah, thrift stores have been rocking my socks off lately.*

*I will be talking more about thrift and vintage stores in a later post but I had to mention that I just heard about a great sounding one in the U District. A friend of my dad's owns it and it's called Valley of Roses. Haven't checked been in yet (it was closed when we went by on our way to dinner tonight) but it looks great.

turn your book facedown and you are in the infinite

cardigan - thrifted uniqlo, dress - romy, tights - forgot, boots - thrifted, thermal socks - rei

Sorry about the lack of posts recently. My laptop is currently unusable so I've been having to steal time to get online. Finally wore something worth posting and managed to get a photo. It's been rainy and stormy all day today but I snapped this in my driveway by the light of my headlights when I got home.
