music playing make it dreamy for dancing

coat - old navy, sweatshirt - old navy, tee - thrifted alternative apparel, jeans - gap, shoes - thrifted, hat - target

I wore this the other day while hanging out with Amanda in Seattle. Hit up Neptune and picked up a PJ Harvey tape, which I am way into right now. (I was listening to it in my car before work this morning and when I went in the store one of my coworkers asked me what I was listening to and said it sounded good, heh.)

I actually really like this stupid acid washed tshirt. Picked it up after trying on a little kids Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt, which unfortunately was too small. (I could have pulled it off in high school, when I was tinier and thrifting and not caring about fashion was what I considered cool.) It's crazy comfy, the cotton is so soft, and it really does feel like a perfectly worn in shirt.

Of course we went to Ugly Mug. Got their hot cocoa this time, which is delicious, and spent a few hours sitting around talking. They also have some really cool artwork there. I really should find out who the artist is.

RIP JD, RIP

coat - silence & noise, tshirt - pacsun, skirt - thrifted, tights - dkny, flats - target

I bought this coat from Urban Outfitters not long ago. It was marked down quite a lot and I like it. It has this great pleated back and a giant hood. I really like it. It looks kind of bad when it's zipped up, but I rarely zip my coats anyways. I wore this to work and then to an improv show in Seattle with Justina and our friend Joe, from high school. It was fantastic to see him again, and the improv show was really good. I even got a Depeche Mode lyric in.

sweater - target, shirt - gap, pants - gap, shoes - pf flyers

This is a boring work outfit again. But warm and maybe a little less boring. These shoes are insanely comfortable, so I really like wearing them for work.

There is sad news. JD Salinger, one of the last living authors I loved, died yesterday. I am saddened, but hopeful that some of his work will be published posthumously. He had not published anything in years, but I had read that he was still writing and things might be published after his death.

goooooooooooey

Sorry once again about the scarcity of posts lately. I've been working crazy hours lately. I work six days in a row next week. All full eight hour shifts. I'm also housesitting that week. I think I will die.

cardigan - thrifted, shirt - gap, skirt - vintage, tights - target, shoes - thrifted

Wow, I didn't realize how much of this outfit was thrifted! I just got this skirt the other day in the vintage section of my local Value Village (I thought I would hate it when they created the vintage section because I was worried they would start charging more for the good stuff, but it's still as cheap as ever and it's nice having a starting place with a higher ratio of good to bad). I actually changed into jeans after wearing this for a little while because Justina and I made MARSHMALLOWS and I didn't want to get the goo all over this nice wool skirt.

I also got to see Michael and Amanda that night, and we rented Moon which was REALLY good. You should watch it!

prisoner of the ant people

shirt - target, tee - depeche mode concert, jeans - gap, sneakers - converse, watch - step grandpa's

I like this shirt because the plaid pattern reminds me of graph paper. School supplies make me happy. I thought it was kind of a different way to wear my Depeche Mode shirt. Different than how I usually dress, I guess. I wish I had stuck with my pointy brown shoes I wear all the time though. The beat up Converse don't seem to work for this. And I'm still all about the red lips.

I wore this outfit yesterday, when I hung out with Amanda in Seattle. It was such an enjoyable day. We went to Ugly Mug, drank Ovaltine lattes again, went back to her house and immediately left because her roommate was having a breakdown, went to Memo's for burritos, and then to her boyfriend's ex-roommate's apartment, where we obsessively researched Gary Paulsen and Choose Your Own Adventure books. We decided to start a bookclub. Fun night, and worth the tiredness from lack of sleep I experienced today at work.

i'll have the depeche a la mode please

peacoat - old navy, cardigan - target, shirt - old, jeans - gap, shoes - thrifted, glasses - zenni optical, lipstick - really red by revlon

Yeah, so I know I wear these jeans and shoes every single fucking day, but they're the only things I like right now. I think I'm ready for Spring. Either that or I want everything I wear to be black, leather, or studded. Hung out in Seattle today and went to the cutest cafe. Ugly Mug in the U District is officially my new favorite coffee shop and Ovaltine lattes are my new favorite drink. I'm also really into red lips right now. This particular lipstick is totally matte and a really nice deep red.

a cup of coffee and conversation

shirt - gap, jeans - gap, shoes - thrifted

This photo is ridiculous. I got sick of my usual indoor picture taking spots so I took some photos in my bathtub. I went shopping the other day. I had some gift cards for the Gap and got a ton of shirts. This flannel one is so cozy. I wore the shirt to work, but changed into the jeans after I got off work to go out for dinner and coffee with Justina and Michael. Really a nice evening, it reminded me how much I like hanging out with Michael.

sick and tired and tired and sick

sweater - stepdad's, jeans - gap, boots - christmas present, hat - target

I pretty much lived in this sweater while I was sick. I also drank gallons of tea. Love this teapot my grandma gave me for Christmas. It's iron and holds heat like crazy. Adore this cardamon cinnamon tea too.

wanting to get the hell out of here

cardigan - thrifted, dress - old navy, cable leggings - target, boots - christmas gift, glasses - zenni optical, bracelet - gift

This was a work outfit on a day I was sick of my usual pants and sweater combo. I was also beginning to get sick, and it was pretty cold, so thick leggings, and fuzzy boots were vital. I got this dress at the beginning of autumn but haven't worn it yet. It was way marked down at Old Navy and the perfect casual, safari-ish dress I'd been looking for all summer. I'm planning on wearing it all the time next summer, especially with flat sandals and thin silk scarves. Super easy to throw on and go, comfortable in hot weather, I'm definitely looking forward to that. But I think it worked pretty well in this cold weather outfit. The dress is totally shapeless, kind of like a paperbag, except for a drawstring waist, but I do quite like it. Also love this peace sign bracelet my grandmother gave me for Christmas. Another thing I bet I'll be wearing a lot in the summer, as I always tend to dress more like a hippy when the weather heats up. And I actually wanted a leather cuff last summer, but I think this will do nicely.

new year's eve at the needle . . . not

dress - secondhand, belt - thrifted, colored tights - target, lace tights - urban outfitters, shoes - target, peacock feather headband - gift from j, necklace - vintage, bracelet - gift

This is what I wore for New Year's Eve. Which was pretty chill. There was a possibility of going to a party at this Trinidadian restaurant but we ended up hanging out at a friend's place. Actually, it was this boy I was sort of seeing, but I think that's over. He does have a pretty cool apartment though.

I love layering tights. The color of these ones with the black lace on top reminded me of peacock feathers and I thought the headband from Justina was a perfect choice. I also wore a cute bangle my grandmother gave me for Christmas. Thought the vintage rhinestone necklace and gold buckled belt glammmed the outfit up a little. Which is important for New Year's Eve! Haha. The dress is awful plain without the belt, even though it has a sash that ties in the back. Also, red lips make me really really happy.

quack

I may not have mentioned this in my last post, but I've been sick and that's why blogging has been slow. Well, I haven't been sick this whole time, just the last couple days, but I was also really crazy busy with work.

jeans - gap, shoes - thrifted, shirt - depeche mode concert, peacoat - old navy, scarf - borrowed

This picture looks weird because I'm eating fries and I had to crop my crazy family out of the photo. But I borrowed this AWESOME scarf from my aunt, who I believe got it as a Christmas present from my other aunt. It's huge! The yarn is super thick, so the knit stitches are huge, and the whole thing is really long. I really want one now.

Also, this picture was taken right before riding the ducks. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you've never been to Seattle. It's the most touristy thing one can do, after going up the Space Needle of course, but my aunt is from New York and she wanted to do it. The ducks are these amphibious vehicles from WWII that do tours all over Seattle. It was fun, in a totally ridiculous, touristy way.

christmas, all wrapped up

I took these photos on Christmas. I know it's really late, but I really like them. And yeah, I know, these type of photos have been done a million times before, but I had fun with them. My favorite is the second. What do you think? I also think the second to last looks like a spine.

Here's a bit clearer photo of my dress. It's my favorite holiday dress. I love the huge collar and exposed zipper down the back. I can't believe it's from Target. It's way better made than I would expect. This photo is pre christmas haircut, so excuse the in the eyes bangs.
